Meris Ottobit X: ’80s Lo-Fi, Glitch and Texture Reborn

Meris has launched the Ottobit X, a full-stereo modular degradation and texture engine that takes the much-loved Ottobit concept and expands it into a powerful new creative tool for modern musicians, producers and sound designers.

Drawing inspiration from ’80s computer games, arcade machines, chiptune textures, VHS, cassette, early digital audio and lo-fi production, Ottobit X delivers everything from nostalgic bitcrushed colour through to wild glitch, pitch movement, tape-style effects and deep digital texture.

In traditional Meris style, this is much more than a standard effects pedal. Ottobit X can be used creatively on almost any instrument or source — guitar, bass, drums, keys, synths, vocals, samples, horns, drum machines and full studio productions. It is equally at home on a pedalboard, in a synth rig, as part of a live setup, or sitting beside a studio desk as a creative processing tool.

Sonically, Ottobit X brings together advanced bitcrushing, sample-rate reduction, glitch effects, pitch processing, filters, modulation, preamp colours, VHS-style delay and reverb, real-time looping, vinyl-style scratching and tape stop effects. It also includes stereo input and output, MIDI, USB-C, 99 preset locations and switchable instrument or line/synth level operation.

Ottobit X is available in Matte Black and Limited Edition small-run Multidimensional Pink.

RRP: $999 inc GST
