New Drawmer FC1 & OC1 500 Series Compressors
Drawmer has expanded its 500 Series range with two new analogue compressors: the FC1 FET Compressor and OC1 Optical Compressor.
Designed and hand-built in the UK, both bring Drawmer’s comprehensive approach to analogue processing into a single 500 Series slot. While they share the same extensive feature set, each offers a distinctly different style of compression.
Drawmer FC1 – 500 Series FET Compressor
The FC1 is based on Drawmer’s award-winning 1970s Series of FET compressors, delivering the fast attack and release times associated with punchy, energetic FET compression.
It’s a great choice for drums, bass, guitars and other sources where impact and control are important, while a full set of controls makes it equally useful for more subtle dynamic shaping.

Drawmer OC1 – 500 Series Optical Compressor
The OC1 is Drawmer’s first optical compressor, offering smooth, warm and natural-sounding dynamic control.
Its more fluid compression character makes it particularly well suited to vocals and acoustic instruments, while still being flexible enough to use across a broad range of recording and mixing applications.

More Than Just Compression
Both models include BIG and AIR modes, derived from Drawmer’s 1973 multiband compressor, allowing the compressor response to be shaped while preserving low-end weight and high-frequency detail.
There’s also CRUSH harmonic saturation for adding analogue colour, Wet/Dry mixing for parallel compression, program-dependent release, 21-position detented controls for easy recall, comprehensive metering and multi-module linking.
For smaller hybrid studios, they offer an accessible way to bring quality analogue processing into the mix. For larger professional studios, the feature set and build quality make them equally at home in a serious 500 Series rack.
